I was wondering if this is the right forum to talk about issues related to RedFish implementation on Dell iDRAC server.

OMSA Web Server launch using FQDN

Can OMSA Web Server shortcut be configured to launch using the FQDN rather than hostname? I want to replace the certificate on OMSA and use the FQDN but the Server Administrator launches using the hostname so I get an error message that the certificate isn't valid.

Is it just a matter of replacing the shortcut with a link using the FQDN or can I change something in the OMSA Web Server that it'll launch using the FQDN?

Thanks

changing boot sequence with racadm

Hi all, I am trying to use racadm to change the UEFI boot order on dual boot nodes (windows and Linux). This works well with two JBODs using the racadm get bios.BiosBootSettings.UefiBootSeq and then set and then a reboot.

The customer wants to use two virtual disks from a raid 1 set on a H330 PERC. We can change the boot order successfully from the system setup but when we do a racadm get bios.BiosBootSettings.UefiBootSeq with this configuration both virtual disks show up as RAID.integrated.1-1 with no way to differentiate the two and therefore no way to change the boot order.

Any clues?

Phil.

LC job performance vs omconfig for changing disk controller write policy

$

Hello, I would like to not use OMSA (omreport/omconfig) because it seems it will go away in the future due to agent less monitoring and because it relies on the dcstor32/dcstro64 service to be running. I favor racadm and WSMAN to the idrac over omconfig.

However, the performance of some commands using LC Jobs is bad. For example, setting the disk controller vdisk write policy. Omconfig takes less than a second and the LC job after creation takes ~2 mins.

(In powershell using local racadm)

Omconfig:

PS C:\> (measure-command {$out = omconfig storage vdisk action=changepolicy vdisk=0 controller=0 writepolicy=fwb}).totalseconds;$out
0.8145142
Command successful!

LC Job:

PS C:\> racadm jobqueue delete --all

PS C:\> racadm set Storage.VirtualDisk.WritePolicy.1 'Force Write Back'

PS C:\> get-date;racadm jobqueue create RAID.Integrated.1-1 -s TIME_NOW --realtime;do{get-date;$out=racadm jobqueue view;$out;sleep -Seconds 5}while ([string]::IsNullOrEmpty($($out | select-string -SimpleMatch "[100]")));get-date

Dell OpenManage Essentials, configuring Email Alerts in HTML format

Hi

We are running Version 2.1.0.2635 of Dell OpenManage Essentials.

We are able to successfully configure email alerts which include the following syntax

https://$n:1311

or

* Login to OME for more information and action as appropriate.
URL is: https://domeserver.whatevs.com:2607/  *

however it seems these email are sent as text instead of html format so they recipient is unable to click on the hyperlinks.

Does anyone know if there is an option somewhere where these alerts can be set to HTML?

Thanks

Hello all,

My apologies if this was already answered.  I am unable to find a search function for posted discussions on this site.  Is there agentx support for OpenManage server administrator?  If so which version did it start at.

Thank you,

Hello all,

Does OpenManage Server Administrator support agentx protocols?  If so then what version did it start?  We're running an older version for Linux and would like to start using agentx instead of smux.

thx,

Upgrade of OMSA to 8.3, driver then appears again on Windows Update

Hi

I have a number of servers running OMSA v8.2. Windows previously offered an update called "DELL INC - Other hardware - System Management Device" size 47Kb which was installed.

Following update to OMSA v8.3, this update is again offered via Windows Update.

Question is, as this update is dated 29/07/15, is this going to downgrade any driver/component that has been installed as part of v8.3?

Should I accept the Windows Update after upgrading OMSA v8.2 to OMSA v8.3, or hide it?

OMSA SNMP module memory leak - fixed?

Hi everyone,

I found some information about memory leaks in OMSA SNMP module in versions >7.0, I was looking & checking changelogs for further versions but didn't find any confirmation that this was resolved. Topics are quite old (2012) but is anyone aware if this has been fixed in some 7.x and 8.x versions?

Another instance of suu is already running?!?

Hi,

I used Repository manager to create an SUU file and on one of my servers, the file wont' install.  I run the suulauncher file and it inventories the server fine.  It finds 5 things that need to be updated.

When I click Upgrade, it gives me an error that another instance of SUU is already running.  I rebooted the server and tried again and got the same error.

Can anyone help figure out what the problem is?  Server is running Windows Server 2012.

The invcolOutput.log file shows the following:

OME vs Repository Manager for updates

$

Howdy,

I'm just wondering what the difference is with these two products as far as where they get their updates from and what updates are available.

I used Repository Manager to create an SUU file for my servers and installed it.  However, I now check OME and see that it has newer versions of some things available and some things it has listed that don't even show up in Repository Manager.

I thought that they were just two different ways of getting the same updates but it doesn't appear that this is actually true...

Is it a good idea to have this option activated?

RE: How often are the repositories updated?

The Dell Catalogs and their update frequency and location have been a mystery to me this last week.

Trying this method www.hypervisor.fr/ update my system from DRAC shows that the ftp.dell.com/Catalog.xml.gz file is from 5/23/2016. It tells me the latest R730 BIOS is 2.0.2, when in fact the latest bios is actually 2.1.7.

However, LCC, DRM, OME all show that the latest bios is 2.1.6 (because the catalogs haven't been refreshed).

The problem that bothers me is that there are at least two catalog locations. ftp.dell.com/Catalog.xml.gz (older) and ftp.dell.com/catalog/Catalog.xml.gz (which is what LCC, DRM, OME all seem to use).

The problem with using the catalog in the root directory with iDRAC is that it's older (why is this even in a different location?)

If I try and use the one in /catalog/ iDRAC cannot update, it says the updates fail instantaneously in the Job Queue.  I believe this is because when you try and update, it uses the current catalog location in as the root folder, so it's looking for /catalog/FOLDER123123123/UPDATEFILE.EXE and it doesn't exist, because it's not meant to be under the catalog folder.  It seems the DRAC updater logic uses the catalog folder as relational to the firmware, when it should just be looking for ftp.dell.com/FOLDER123123123/UPDATEFILE.exe (but it doesn't).

Hope that makes sense?

OMSA Web Server Version Compatibility Issue

After updating OMSA on the hosts (running ESXi 5.5) to version 8.3.0 I get the following message (when attempting to log in via the server administrator portal):

"Server Administrator Web Server Version 8.2.0 is not supported with this Server Instrumentation Version 8.3.0..."

Tying to access other hosts with OMSA remotely, I am getting 'internal error' after the logon attempt. This was working prior to the update. I am also not able to log in to the "Manage Web Server" link in the Managed System Login page.

Is this a Tomcat update that is needed or something else entirely? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hardware Logs Getting Full Quick.

Hello all.

I have seen several Dell servers that we set SNMP Traps to log only Warning and Critical items but we still get system software startup and shutdown informational items logging. We also get some other informational items logging across Hardware, Alert, and Command we would like to stop. We just need to know what a critical or warning issue is occurring or at least a way to reduce the logs. The servers reboot M-F and require we clear the logs less than every 2 months. See images. it's Dell OM 8.1 x64.
