RE: How often are the repositories updated?

The Dell Catalogs and their update frequency and location have been a mystery to me this last week.

Trying this method www.hypervisor.fr/ update my system from DRAC shows that the ftp.dell.com/Catalog.xml.gz file is from 5/23/2016. It tells me the latest R730 BIOS is 2.0.2, when in fact the latest bios is actually 2.1.7.

However, LCC, DRM, OME all show that the latest bios is 2.1.6 (because the catalogs haven't been refreshed).

The problem that bothers me is that there are at least two catalog locations. ftp.dell.com/Catalog.xml.gz (older) and ftp.dell.com/catalog/Catalog.xml.gz (which is what LCC, DRM, OME all seem to use).

The problem with using the catalog in the root directory with iDRAC is that it's older (why is this even in a different location?)

If I try and use the one in /catalog/ iDRAC cannot update, it says the updates fail instantaneously in the Job Queue.  I believe this is because when you try and update, it uses the current catalog location in as the root folder, so it's looking for /catalog/FOLDER123123123/UPDATEFILE.EXE and it doesn't exist, because it's not meant to be under the catalog folder.  It seems the DRAC updater logic uses the catalog folder as relational to the firmware, when it should just be looking for ftp.dell.com/FOLDER123123123/UPDATEFILE.exe (but it doesn't).

Hope that makes sense?

OMSA Web Server Version Compatibility Issue

After updating OMSA on the hosts (running ESXi 5.5) to version 8.3.0 I get the following message (when attempting to log in via the server administrator portal):

"Server Administrator Web Server Version 8.2.0 is not supported with this Server Instrumentation Version 8.3.0..."

Tying to access other hosts with OMSA remotely, I am getting 'internal error' after the logon attempt. This was working prior to the update. I am also not able to log in to the "Manage Web Server" link in the Managed System Login page.

Is this a Tomcat update that is needed or something else entirely? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hardware Logs Getting Full Quick.

Hello all.

I have seen several Dell servers that we set SNMP Traps to log only Warning and Critical items but we still get system software startup and shutdown informational items logging. We also get some other informational items logging across Hardware, Alert, and Command we would like to stop. We just need to know what a critical or warning issue is occurring or at least a way to reduce the logs. The servers reboot M-F and require we clear the logs less than every 2 months. See images. it's Dell OM 8.1 x64.

OMSA 8.3: "This page can’t be displayed"

Hello,

Just coming back from vacation and found that none of our servers are able to run OMSA 8.3, failing with the "This page can’t be displayed" message. It was working fine 2 weeks ago at least. I'm not always checking local OMSA.

I tried to restart the services, reboot the server with no luck. The only fix I found so far is to uninstall/reinstall OMSA.

Are you aware of any issue with MS updates or something?

Regards,

JP

There is an MD1400 array attached to the server but it's not being detected.

I can see the SAS9300-8e card and firmware but no enclosures.

Any suggestions no what to look at or do to resolve the issue ?

I put intel p3500 ssd to my t430 system and fan speed rised up to 85%. Idrac lifecycle controler log shows that system detects ssd as normal, but still ramps up fan speed to 85%. So maybe there is some kind of system bug? Turning off third party PCie card fan respnse did no help

Two servers - an R210-II and an R610, running Win 2008 R2.  Had OMSA6.5 on them.  It stopped working alogether - I get the generic "This page can't be displayed" IE 11 error.  I verified that the DSM services were up and running, that firmware was up-to-date.  I removed and re-installed OMSA; removed and installed a newer version (8.1); same behavior.   What's my next troubleshooting step here?

Hi guys,

Can someone please shed some light on how to test the Dell Server Traps

Active checks of the service have been disabled - only passive checks are being accepted

The PENDING part never changes, is it meant to?

How would I verify if it's working correctly?

Had the same issue, and after searching through numerous blogs, sites, and recommended Docs, the only thing I could think to try next (and what was recommended) was a re-install. After going to Uninstall a program I figured I would run the repair option which worked. Don't know how it became corrupt or non-functioning but this worked. Wish I would have attempted this first before spending hours going down the rabbit hole.

Hi!

After successfully updating 3 of 4 FC430 iDRACs, i'm having a problem with one of them. I'm doing exactly the same and i'm getting this error message:

Details are:

Any recommendations?

WD15 Docking Station is not allowing the use of Keyboard nor Mouse at BitLocker prompt

I have three Precision 3510 using the WD15 docking stations.

We are using BitLocker Encryption on these machines.

When the user is prompted to type in the BitLocker Key, they are unable to use the keyboard and mouse.  The user has to open the lid on the laptop type in the key on the laptop, then close it again.

Meanwhile, the video is still working correctly.

It's as if it's not recognizing the USBs.

I have run the BIOS update and Firmware update and all the other updates that were needed.  Otherwise, it is functioning correctly, it's just at BitLocker.

Any Suggestions?

How to change the default port 2607 for SupporAssist for Servers on Windows?

I'd like to run SupportAssist 1.3 for Servers on the same Windows machine as OpenManage Essentials 2.2. They use the same port 2607.

I cannot use the SupportAssist plugin for OME because I have a lot of Linux servers that I want to register in SupportAssist. It seems that SA plugin for OME does not support Linux. It should.

memory speed

Hi...running 8.4 here...

I am trying to purchase another R630 and trying to match our current one.

Through OpenManager, it shows my memory speed is 0.47ns (BTW, shouldn't this be 47ns instead??), but Dell "customize" website shows "2133MT/s", "2400MT/s"...

This is like talking in terms of feet and meters...why can't we all come to one standard and call it a day?

Dell OMSA 8.3 + Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS - Can't Login To Web GUI dsm_om_connsvc

$

Hello DELL,

I'm trying to use the DELL OMSA 8.3 as shown on the http://linux.dell.com/repo/community/ubuntu/
and was able to successfully install using the information posted on the webpage. I am running the following:

OS: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS (GNU/Linux 3.13.0-101-generic x86_64)
Server Hardware: PowerEdge R320

I am able to use the CLI commands OK. The server in question is on a Domain Network but isn't logged into the Active Directory nor do I use an Active Directory login to access this server. In CLI, it shows the pc machine hostname and $: dnsdomainname returns nothing.

Here is the status after I login:

$ sudo service dsm_om_connsvc status
dsm_om_connsvcd (pid 6843) is running

sudo useradd dellomsa
sudo usermod -g root dellomsa
sudo passwd dellomsa

Even with this added, I still couldn't login to the GUI!

I ran the following to see if this would work:

sudo nano /opt/dell/srvadmin/etc/omarolemap

# Following are the defualt entries specified to enable users with OS level$
root    *       Administrator
+root   *       Poweruser
*       *       User
dellomsa     *     Administrator

I get the following after I login using the correct user/passwd:
https://ip:1311/LoginServlet?flag=true&managedws=true - CORRECT LOGIN
https://ip:1311/OMSALogin?msgStatus=false&PasswordEmpty=false - LOGIN FAILED

If I login correctly..
It just takes me to a blank page and I can't bring back up the login page nor can I access it from another browser. I'd had this happen in Firefox/Microsoft Edge/Microsoft IE11.

Google Chrome says the following:

The myhostname page isn’t working

myhostname didn’t send any data.

ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE
UPDATE:
I couldn't use OMCONFIG and found out I needed to run "sudo /opt/dell/srvadmin/sbin//omconfig"
to use the command from CLI
How do I give this user rights like root so I can login to the WEB GUI? I think the WEB GUI isn't allowing my user into because of permissions.
_______________________________________________________________
Please review and let me know what other options I have that I can try or if this will even let me login.
I've recorded the problem in action and can provide a URL from YouTube if need be.
Thanks!

Dell CMC Firmware 5.20 from 5.12

I am having problems updating to CMC Firmware Version 5.20 for 5.12.

No matter how I initiate the update (web,racadm...) after the update completes I no longer have access to the Web Interface.

I performed the update initially to the standby CMC then failed over and no Web Interface.

I have tried having only one CMC in the chassis and doing the update but same result.

Any suggestions?

OMSA 8.4 certificate start date

$

Hi all,

After upgrading a few of our servers from OMSA 8.3 to OMSA 8.4, we have noticed the Valid From date of the certificate is greater than the Valid To date (screenshot below). This is causing an issue and is (obviously) not right.  Is anyone aware of this issue and will an updated install package be released at some point?

Thanks

Justin
