PERC battery status

$

Hi,

One of our old PE2950s is showing a PERC 6/i battery status of "Degraded". The log shows an entry on the 22nd saying that the learn cycle will start in four days, but it hasn't started yet.

The log shows the last time it did a learn cycle three months ago, and the cycle started when it said it would, 4 days after the entry saying it would start in 4 days.

Can I wait until the "Maximum Learn Delay" of 7 days has been reached before worrying about it, or does that setting refer to manually delaying the learn cycle (which I haven't done)?

Thanks.

I am seeking a omsa linux package for Oracle Linux 6.3. While it is based off of RHEL 6.3, this version I am working on has the following kernel ( 2.6.39-200.24.1.el6uek.i686 ). Note the UEK, which is Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel.

Has anyone successfully installed OSMA on an Oracle Linux server?

I am also searching for an OSMA 32-bit RPM package but have not found one yet. Any suggestions or assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thank you all for any assistance.

Moving to ESXi 6.5 but OpenManage for 6.5 does not have support for a Dell R710

Hello-

We have Dell R710's running vSphere  that will be updated shortly to v6.5 (from 5.5). As I see it the latest version of the vSphere bundle does not support a Dell R710. It looks like the v8.1 of OpenManage will support my system but it's for vSphere 6.0.

What version of OpenManage should I use for vSphere 6.5 running on a Dell R710?

looking for options on how to remotely turn on an dell r320 remotely when it has been shutdown due to loss of power. We did not purchase the addition idrac licensing but  I see there is the System Bios AC POwer Recovery settings. We use Dell Open Essentials which has Remote Power tasks, which allows us to turn of a server remotely but need the remote access to turn on, which I assume that we need the licensing for idrac to do this?

Getting error "JAR resources in JNLP file are not signed by the same certificate" after iDRAC update

I updated my M610 iDRACs from 3.75 to 3.80 and now I'm getting an error when trying to run the virtual console: "JAR resources in JNLP file are not signed by the same certificate".

Anyone seen this and know the solution? I've tried clearing my Java cache and my browser cache but that doesn't help. If I run the virtual console from another desktop machine it works fine.

Thanks.

Can anyone advise on a solution here please.

Dell OpenManage Server Administrator v8.5 - Incorrect Virtual Disk capacity reported

$

Hello.

I decided to create this topic following a discussion in another forum section, more specifically here.

First I'll talk briefly about the issue that I am facing and what I perceive to be the origin of the problem.

I recently had OMSA (v7.4.0.2) alert me to a degraded array (RAID-5) due to a failed disk on a PowerEdge T310 server (the RAID controller is a PERC S100). About an hour before powering down and replacing the disk I decided to upgrade OMSA to the latest version (v8.5), which I did by upgrading the old version. At that point I don't remember clearly if the issue that I would notice later on was already present, but it became obvious after swapping the failed disk. The issue that I'm talking about is an incorrect disk capacity presented by OMSA v8.5 - OMSA alone shows this, not the OS and not the controller's BIOS config menu. Apart from this there is no indication by OMSA of anything remotely wrong with the array.

To my surprise, upon booting and starting the rebuild process, OMSA was showing me a capacity of 8,187.84GB instead of the correct 930.48GB (3x 500GB HDDs). This incorrect value persisted across reboots, uninstalls, reinstalls of OMSA. After experimenting with several OMSA versions, with each one giving it's own highly exaggerated disk capacity; in some cases the same OMSA version would even report multiple capacities by just restarting the Data Manager service, for example:
56,098,816.00GB
55,574,528.00GB
39,059,456.00GB
57,671,680.00GB
57,147,392.00GB
52,166,656.00GB
18,874,368.00GB

The most amusing reading would come from v8.4: 7,234,142,328.78GB

Anyway, as I was explaining, I found that the disk capacity was only reported incorrectly in OMSA v8.2 and later. The last accurate reading of this setting came from v8.1. After further testing I isolated this correct/incorrect reporting to a DLL from the Dell Storage Management (SysMgt\sm\dellvl\dsm_sm_swrvil.dll) - a different DLL would probably be used for different RAID controllers' series.

In conclusion, OMSA v8.5 can indeed report the correct disk capacity in this particular system but only if it uses Storage Management v5.1.0.1 (dsm_sm_swrvil.dll, shipped with OMSA v8.1) or an earlier version of this DLL. Later versions of this DLL report the wrong VD capacity on my system.

It would be great if someone from the programming team responsible for that particular library could comment on this and try to shed some light on this oddity, which I'm not sure if anyone has ever experienced before.

Thank you!

Disabling TLSv1.0 on iDrac6 Monolithic 2.85

I have upgraded the firmware version on my iDrac6 to 2.85, however, there doesn't appear to be a way to disable TLSv1.0.  Is this possible on this version for this card?  I found documentation that says for iDrac7/8 2.40.40 you can disable TLSv1.0.  If it is not available to be updated in v2.85, are there plans to add that feature for iDrac6?

Thanks,

Shawn

Maybe I got in over my head a little here but. . .  I bought this used PowerEdge T310 on E-Bay with the idea of using it with Windows 10 as a home server, both as a learning instrument and as a functional piece of equipment.  So, I loaded it up with 32 Gb of RAM and four 1 Tb Seagate Barracuda wired HDD's.  Now I find the learning curve pretty steep here.  Windows 10 won't load, I suspect, because the DVD drive isn't loaded.  I used Hiren's boot disk to get to the internet but can't load anything from Dell because the HDD's aren't partitioned/formatted?

This is a pretty bare bones system with the PERC S100 Raid Controller.  Should I use it in non-RAID just like a PC?  I've been wondering about the Virtual Disk you create with the PERC.  Is that like the swap file  on a PC or, is that where one loads the OS?  It seems that if I select a RAID configuration, I need to set up this Virtual Disk.

Would you be so kind as to provide some illumination as I am running out of ideas?

DCIM_LOGENTRY CLEARING

$

Hello,

I have a couple hundred Dell computers that I use Dell Command monitor on. All computers are Windows 7 64 bit. I have attempted to use Open management essentials to get Raid Status failure or degrade status on all computers. (All computers run Raid 1). Sadly, the information I have received only shows in hardware logs which is not very helpful.

My next move was to simply pull all Log entries thru DCIM_Logentry and place all information inside a excel document. From there I organized as needed based on the Alert Long Entries.

This works fantastically for me but I  have run into a small roadblock. I cannot find a way to clear the DCIM_logentry alerts after I have repaired the equipment failure.

Looking thru Dell's documentation I have found information of clearing some log information thru the DCIM_Recordlog  and clearlog command but that does not seem clear what I need.

Is there a way thru powershell, vb script or simply cmd to clear log entries in DCIM_logentry?

Dell OpenManage: Lost & Confused

$

Hello Guys and Gals,

I currently work in a VMWare Data Center, and I've been asked to setup an OpenManage server. Sounds easy enough from the way things were explained to me. Yeah, not so much after reading Google for the last 2 hours. 99% of our systems run ESXi 5.x and above. Several of our systems run a beta version of ESXi.

My question is; can I run this in a VM, and manage all my systems from there? We probably have about 50k Dell Servers, ranging from 29xx series to Dell Rx40s. I've read quite abit about installing them through vCenter (we don't get access to this or customer OSs), so that really isn't an option, if it's a requirement, I suppose I could put in ticket requests.

So, what I'm asking is; where do I start? Is running it from a virtual machine a plausible scenario or does it need to be a barebone box? Sorry for the noobish questions, I'm trying to do this all through a VM now, and test with it. It's a struggle... Any help would be great.

Apologize if this is the wrong forum, I wasn't entirely sure where to put it.

R640 X rev LCC Diagnostics released

X rev DUPs are pre-release versions. It looks like this X rev was not renamed to an A rev like is standard operating procedure for dell: Diagnostics_Application_4V2H1_WN32_4301X09_4301.10.EXE

Is this a pre prod DUP or a slip up in not renaming/releasing correctly?
